Ateker Muslim Development Foundation (AMDEF) is a non-profit making organization that was established by resolution (5) and (6) of the First Annual Teso Ramadhan Convention during the Soroti Muslim declaration that took place at Soroti Muslim Centre - camp Swahili in April, 22-25, 2022. The Soroti declaration was adopted by over 350 delegates among others including; Mosque Imaams, county sheikhs, preachers, sheikhs, women representatives, youth representatives, Muslim professionals, key opinion leaders, District Kadhis and their councils drawn from Soroti, Katakwi, Amuria, Kapelebyong, Kaberamaido, Kalaki, Serere, Ngora, Kumi, Bukedea, Pallisa, Butebo, Tororo, Teso Kenya and diaspora under the theme: Leadership: A critical path for socioeconomic transformation of Muslim society.

AMDEF formation was actualized by the 203 Ateker Muslim Symposium delegates where, the name was adopted and steering committee constituted and commissioned by the chief guest; the Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda Professor Ismael Gyagenda represented by Dr. Jamil Sserwanga – Vice Rector Academic Affairs.
